Research Interests

Removal of heavy metals from industrial wastewater by adsorbing colloid flotation

Printing effluent treatment by flotation

Enzymatic deinking of recycled paper

Enzymatic drainage enhancement of paper pulp

Research Interests/Projects

Designer reclaimed water:  This project seeks to develop an innovative integrated desalination processes for water reclamation.

The aim is to develop nanofiltration and/or accelerated seed precipitation intermediate process steps in a standard process train (microfiltration – reverse osmosis) to recover nutrients and other ions and return these components to the desalinated product water, thereby adding value to the product water for use in agricultural applications.

Other added benefits of the process will be a more efficient desalination process through the removal of scaling ions that can precipitate on the membrane, severely limiting membrane life and water recoveries, and increasing power consumption and running costs.

Nino Sanciolo Art Prize

Named after eminent leader of the Italian community, journalist, writer, poet and artist, Nino Sanciolo, who died in 1992, the Nino Sanciolo Prize is an annual scholarship available to those who in some way fashion the arts as part of their daily lives. Each year the prize focuses on a particular genre such as literature, art or music. http://www.iicmelbourne.esteri.it/IIC_Melbourne/webform/SchedaEvento.aspx?id=50

Aikido

Aikido is first and foremost a martial art but it is also much more. At its most basic level Aikido is a system of self-defence. In a more general sense, aikido is a personal development regime that acts like magnifying glass, focusing the individual’s energy on the task at hand.  http://www.aikidoshudokan.com
