- enhance links between the University's research funding agencies and staff;
- assist staff with information on sources for research funding; and
- provide assistance and development programs for staff at all stages of research.

News & Events Category 1 Australian Competitive Grants List - Update
The Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR) has finalised the revised list of schemes to included on the Australian Competitive Grants Register (ACGR) for 2009 (to cover funding provided in 2008). The additional five schemes included in the ACGR are:
- Diabetes Australia Research Trust – Awards and Research Grants
- Australian Antarctic Division – Australian Marine Mammal Centre (AMMC) Grant Scheme
- Australian Research Council – Special Research Centres
- Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet – Research Support for Counter Terrorism Program
- Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies – Research Grants Program

Senator The Hon Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research will be visiting VU to launch the Victoria University Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.
The VU Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is a significant new commitment for VU aimed at building its research performance and developing the research careers of early career scholars who are within 5 years of having been awarded their doctoral degree. It aims to:
- Develop the next generation of academics and researchers by linking the best recent PhD graduates with outstanding supervisors and mentors
- Build VU’s research capacity in key areas identified through the VU Research Development and Investment Strategy as being the areas in which VU aims to further build and enhance its national and international research reputation
- Preparing researchers who are able to connect with relevant industries and enterprises to develop research that contributes to solving real world challenges and builds the community and the economy locally, nationally and internationally.

| Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research 2007
Integrity in research, meeting community expectations, and handling allegations of misconduct are the focus of a new national code released by the NHMRC, the Australian Research Council (ARC) and Universities Australia. The Code replaces the Joint NHMRC/AVCC Statement and Guidelines on Research Practice (1997). Document can be downloaded from NHMRC website
